We’ll pay you $20 to look before your sale opens.
You’re going to run the sale anyway. This just means you’re twenty dollars up before the first car pulls into the driveway.
Here’s the deal, plainly. You’ve got a garage sale coming up. Before you open — the day before, or just a couple of hours early on the morning of, whichever is easier for you — we come by, look through the clothing and shoes, and buy whatever we can use at fair prices. For letting us do that, you get $20 in cash — whether or not we end up buying a single thing.
Why we pay for this
No mystery: we’d rather see it before forty other people do. Clothing and shoes go fast at a good sale, and by ten in the morning the best pieces are gone. Twenty dollars is cheap for a first look, and it means you get paid twice on the same stuff — once by us, once by your Thursday-through-Saturday crowd.

$20 cash, unconditional
Handed to you when we show up. Not a credit, not contingent on us buying anything. If we look and pass on everything, the twenty is still yours.
Two real garage sale signs
Proper coroplast signs on stakes — not paper plates and a Sharpie. One says GARAGE SALE, one is an arrow. They’re yours to keep and reuse every sale you ever run.
A leftovers card
Sale’s over Sunday afternoon and there’s a pile nobody wanted? Text us photos. We’ll usually take the clothing and shoes off your hands so you’re not hauling it to a donation bin.
How to qualify
Yuma sales mostly run Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and we only have so many slots across those three days, so there’s a small bar to clear. It’s not strict, it just has to be a real sale with real clothes.
- Send a photo set first. Enough pictures that we can see what’s actually there — not one blurry shot of a closed garage.
- Clothing and shoes both, in some quantity. This is what we buy. A sale that’s all furniture and tools isn’t a fit.
- Labels visible where you can manage it. Neck tags, jean patches, boot stamps.
- A confirmed visit. The $20 is paid at the visit, so we need a day and a window that works for you — the afternoon or evening before, or early on your first morning before the doors go up.
Slots are limited each Thursday through Saturday and we book them in the order photo sets come in. In peak season — roughly October through April — they go early in the week.
Things people want to know before saying yes
Do I have to sell you anything?
No. You can turn down every offer we make and keep the $20. We’re betting we’ll find things worth buying, and that bet is ours to lose.
When exactly do you come by?
Whenever works for you, as long as it’s before the first shopper. Most hosts pick the afternoon or evening before — that’s the easiest, and it gets your signs in the ground the night before. If your stuff isn’t staged until the morning of, we’ll come a couple of hours before you open instead. Yuma sales mostly run Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and we work around all three.
Can you buy things that aren’t clothes?
Yes — if we’re there, we can buy any flippable item you’re willing to sell. Clothing and shoes are what we’re after, but we won’t pretend not to notice a good pair of boots sitting next to a good toolbox.
Won’t you take all the good stuff before my sale?
We pay you for it, at prices meant to be worth your while — usually better than what an early-morning shopper would hand you for the same piece. And it’s your call, item by item. If something is the centerpiece of your sale, keep it.
When do I get the signs?
At the visit, so plan for that. If you want the signs out the evening before — which is the right time for them — book the visit for the day before rather than the morning of.
Is this available right now?
First Look runs during garage sale season, roughly October through April, when people are actually holding sales. In the summer nobody’s out in a driveway at 112° — so we do direct buying instead, year-round. Send photos any time of year.
Where can I legally put the signs?
Worth reading before you stake anything: Yuma prohibits signs on public property, which includes medians, utility poles and the strip along the road. Private property with the owner’s permission is the safe play. Full breakdown of the sign rules here, and the rest of the ordinance here.
