Moving out of Yuma? Don’t pack the clothes.
Weight costs money, time is short, and a moving sale is one more thing to organize during the worst week of the year. Send photos instead.
Yuma is a town people move out of on a schedule. Orders come through at MCAS Yuma or the Proving Ground, a contract ends, a season wraps, the lease is up. Whatever the reason, the pattern is the same: three weeks to deal with everything you own, and clothing is the category that eats the most time for the least return.
Why clothes are the wrong thing to move
- They’re heavy and they’re bulky. If you’re paying by weight or renting by the cubic foot, clothes are the worst value per box in the truck.
- They’re the slowest thing at a moving sale. Furniture and tools go in the first hour. Clothes sit on the rack all weekend and end up in a bag.
- The donation run costs you a morning and returns you nothing but a receipt.
- You’ll unpack them somewhere else and not want them either. Everybody knows this and everybody packs them anyway.
What we do on a moving timeline
Photos, whenever
Send them at 11 p.m. between packing boxes. We’ll have an offer waiting for you.
We work to your date
Tell us your hard deadline and we’ll come before it. Same week is normal, next day is often possible.
Cash and it’s gone
We load it ourselves. You get cash for gas, food, or the deposit on the other end.
PCS moves specifically
We work with a lot of Marines and their families out of MCAS Yuma, and with Proving Ground civilians. We know how PCS timing works: the dates move, then they move again, then suddenly it’s next Tuesday. We don’t need much notice and we don’t need you to be organized. A pile on a bed and five photos is enough to get a number.
Worth knowing: old-issue military clothing, field jackets, flight suits and unit shirts often have real value. Don’t assume the old stuff is trash — photograph it before it goes in a bag.
Still want to run a moving sale?
Do it — May through August is peak moving-sale season here even though it’s brutal outside, because that’s when the orders land. Two things to read first: your address is limited to three sales a year under city code, and Yuma’s sign rules are stricter than most people realize. Then when it’s over and there’s a pile of clothes nobody bought, text us photos on Sunday and we’ll clear it.
